The opening up of the watch to other platforms is great news, I know my boss who has just been forced to upgrade to android from blackberry will be happy.

To the people commenting on the lack of buttons, i'll mirror Jon's comments, it's amazing what you can do with a single button, and how quickly you get used to using it.

There is one thing I'm unclear about, and i'm hoping Jon/Eric can clear up... where does this put the original blackberry beta testers? Are we going to get any more official releases, or do we have to compile our own notifications system now?
Also, how do apps, like the phone face interact with the existing notification software, does it overwrite it?

+1 for this info. I would hope that if I were to run the presenter app that I would not lose access to view my emails and txts.

This seems to be really exciting news. I love the idea that if we decide to change to another devie that we have the option still using our watch. Really looking forward to see what comes out of this and I hope that us current blackberry users arent left out.

I also was a beta tester. I think it's awesome that the watch is moving out of beta and becoming open for developers. Lots of exciting things going on right now.

Yeah, I've got an email to write to all you guys! Sorry for the delay, been a bit madness this week. I'll be sending an email to all the beta users today.

Totally understandable, its a great announcement, and the sample apps look great, while the code doesn't look too complex. Looking forward to the email and to see what coming in the near future.
