After finally getting my computer set up to talk to the inpulse watch, I couldn't get the L2CAP server to work with Windows 7 x64. Eric suggested I try using Linux booted from a flash drive, but for some reason apt-get wouldn't work right, either. So I finally dusted off Windows XP mode, which provided me with a completely clean Windows XP 32-bit virtual machine.
I've only loaded the falling block demo so far, but here are the steps I took:
Starting with a clean XP Mode virtual machine, install the JRE and Python. Restart Windows XP. (Action --> Restart)
With your bluetooth USB adapter connected, click USB --> Wireless Bluetooth Device Attach. Let XP do its song and dance about discovering new hardware, and then cancel any of the prompts for finding drivers. Run the WIDCOMM driver installation. I think for this step to work, you have to have the bluetooth adapter installed and working on the top-level OS, ie Windows 7. I haven't tried without it. If the install hangs, just close it down and restart XP again. I got it to work on the second try.
From here, just follow the Windows getting started guide.
Next, I'm going to go try and get this thing to tell me what time it is.
