Quick question...if I wanted to buy the watch just to run apps but not go against a smartphone (I have an Iphone). Could I just load up the software and get the watch to work?

Absolutely! The dependance on a BlackBerry is just for Allerta's current first party app/firmware.

You can load apps/firmware from a desktop without the need to interact with it from a phone itself if you prefer not to.
