Just curious who out there has successfully connected their watch to a device, whether it be a smartphone or other bluetooth enabled device.

If you could please detail the Device Name/Model, Operating System, Operating System Version that would be great.

Perhaps this thread can be used to keep a living list of proven compatible devices?

Thanks!

I am using the following successfully:

Phone:
Nexus S. Rooted. Running Cyanogenmod 7 RC2 (2.3.3)

Phone application:
Openwatch 1.5.0 beta

Watch Version:

Alerts work great. Battery life is not great. Currently working with the the inpulse guys. They know about the battery life issues and are actively working on it!

So the watch can be paired with samsung devices. I am having trouble pairing the watch with my Samsung Captivate and I was told that the watch would not pair with Samsung devices.....So I guess that theory is not correct.

I had the Samsung Intercept running Ubuntdroid 5, which is droid 2.2. It won't connec thru Openwatch at all. But I am only to try and revert back to 2.1 tonight and see if that works or not. I've read alot of people have ad Bluetooth issue with everything since going to 2.2.

I also have a LG Optimus S, had 2.2.1 on it last night and now has 2.2.2 today. Won't connect thru OpenWatch at all for either version.

I'm wondering if they changed some bluetooth protocol in 2.2 from 2.1 or 1.6.

oh so it may be a android 2.2 issue that makes since because it wont connect to my HTC inspire running 2.2 also. Hopefully OpenWatch will come out with a update that fixes connection bugs with 2.2

Tried with the intercept with 2.1 and no go. Phone says paired but not connected, and Openwatch won't connect to phone. Same as with 2.2.

Going to try the cynogenmod for the optimus tonight, since that's 2.3 and see if that works.

@KillerTurtle: Thank you for posting your results. I think it's a great idea if people post proven non-compatible scenarios as well.

Are you using the latest version of openwatch (1.5.0 beta) and the latest version of the notifications app?

run the compile and load script with the -n flag "python compileandload.py -d 00:50:C2:xx:xx:xx -n"

@jasonburk
Yeah I have the latest of everything. My notifcation app was loaded by my BB last night so it's as current as it can get.

@JLo
Yeah I think a full list of what works and doesn't is the best for everyone. I've got a few people at work with difference Android phones, and I'll see if they can try as well. Just to help build the list.

My droid2 runs android 2.2 and I don't have any issues with OpenWatch.

OK so been doing alot of research on why some phones are working, and why my bluetooth adapter isn't working. COme to find out the Android OS doesn't support L2CAP. The reason some phones do, is because those manufauctures decided to include L2CAP support. Also, if you have a phone that has a Cyanogenmod out there, then it shoul include the L2CAP as well. I'm working on putting it on my LG Optimus S right now.

SUCCESSSSSSS!!!!!!! the LG Optimus works with cyanogenmod 7 installed. It also worked really quickly at that, no fuss at all.

So it is definately the lack of L2CAP support for certain phones.

Ok update time. The walk reconnects really quickly if I walk out of range of my phone.

I get notifications for alarms, and apps like Car Home. But I don't any any notifications for calls, txtmessages or email. But i will try some of the market sms apps to see if they will work instead of the basic one.

OK Good news and to confirm Killer Turtle discovered. I was able to get my phone to connect with Openwatch after I installed the CyanogenMod on my Captivate. Cyanogen contains L2CAP support which is needed to connect. Once I installed the phone connected easily with no fuss. I receive text and call notifications not sure about anything else at this point.

@serves
Great to hear it worked.
What version of cyanogenmod is this? Also what version of Android was the Captivate running prior to the mod? I've updated the compatibility list, just wanted to provide accurate information.

@MonkeyEnFuego Yes, open watch is working. I must be confused as I thought that was the same thing, my fault. For clarification I have OpenWatch installed on an atrix and connecting to the inPulse via bluetooth.
