Alright so the big issue with having bluetooth running on your watch is that your watch will last for about 6-7 hours on a single charge. While it's my understanding that this is related to the protocol that is currently being used by inPulse, I would like to make a suggestion for the first party app that is currently being developed by Allerta. Instead of having the bluetooth on, I would like my watch to be in sleep mode with the bluetooth not turning on until I press the button on the watch. At the moment you press the button, I want the watch to reach out to my phone to see if there are any outstanding alerts. The 1st party app basically has to store all alerts until the point they're being requested by me pressing the button. That way I believe the battery life on the watch should be between 1-4 days instead of 6-7 hours. I know that Allerta believes they can get about 23 hours with bluetooth always on but 1-4 days just sounds a bit better. Like many people, I always keep my phone on vibrate so there really is no need for my watch to vibrate when I get a call or alert. I just want to have the ability to quickly find out during meetings whether or not I missed any calls or messages. |

I think we'll be able to crack the 6-7 hour battery life issue without even slowing down or limiting notifications. But the idea of having the watch query the phone for new notifications is pretty interesting...we'll see if we can prototype that out. |
